VIST (Vacuum Insulated Storage Tank) Installation

How It Works

A Vacuum Insulated Storage Tank (VIST) is a double-walled tank designed to store cryogenic liquids like liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon, or LNG at extremely low temperatures. The inner vessel holds the cryogenic fluid, while the outer vessel creates a vacuum space in between, minimizing heat transfer. During installation, tanks are securely placed on prepared foundations, connected to process lines, and tested for insulation performance and pressure integrity. The vacuum insulation ensures minimal product loss due to evaporation.

Key Features

  • Superior Thermal Insulation – Vacuum plus multi-layer insulation drastically reduces heat ingress.
  • Pressure-Rated Design – Built to handle high internal pressures and extreme temperatures.
  • Low Boil-Off Rate – Maintains product integrity with minimal loss.
  • Durability – Long service life with corrosion-resistant materials and robust construction.
  • Easy Integration – Can be installed with vaporizer systems and piping for complete cryogenic setups.

Common Use

  • Medical & Healthcare – For liquid oxygen supply in hospitals.
  • Industrial Gases – For nitrogen, argon, and CO₂ in manufacturing processes.
  • LNG Infrastructure – For storage and distribution in energy sectors.
  • Food & Beverage – For freezing, chilling, and carbonation applications.
  • Laboratories & Research Facilities – For storing cryogenic media for scientific use.

Construction Material

  • Inner Vessel: High-grade austenitic stainless steel (typically SS304/SS316) for excellent cryogenic performance and corrosion resistance.
  • Outer Vessel: Carbon steel or stainless steel, designed for strength and structural integrity.
  • Insulation: High-performance multi-layer insulation (MLI) with vacuum jacket for maximum thermal efficiency.
  • Support Systems: Includes durable piping, valves, and safety devices compliant with international cryogenic standards.
